Woman accused of leaving 3 kids in unattended, unventilated car
The three kids were all under the age of 5.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A Nashville woman was charged with three counts of a misdemeanor of a child after she left her three young sons, all under the age of five, inside an unventilated, unattended parked car in soaring temperatures, the Metro Nashville Police Department said.
Police said she left them there while she went into the County Clerk’s Office on President Ronald Reagan Way.
A passerby saw the children and called police. When officers arrived, they opened the doors to the unlocked car and placed the children in an air-conditioned car. Police called the Fire Department EMS to check them out.
When the kids’ mother, 24-year-old Ty’Jha’N’E Manning came back to her car after several minutes, she was taken into custody and booked on a $7,500 bond.
“The police department asks parents and caregivers to be mindful of the vulnerability of children to extreme heat and never leave them in an unattended vehicle,” police said.
