Cold weather shelters, warming stations open ahead of snowstorm in Middle Tennessee
A significant snowstorm is expected to hit the Midstate Friday morning with several inches of accumulation.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Metropolitan Nashville and its surrounding counties are activating cold weather shelters as a significant snowstorm is expected to cap off a cold week in Middle Tennessee.
Here is a list of shelters available in Midstate:
Metro Nashville
- 639 Lafayette Street (Men only) - Serving hot meals and providing warm beds.
- 1716 Rosa Parks Blvd. (women with children) - Serving hot meals and providing warm beds.
Room in the Inn - 705 Drexel Street - Room In The Inn’s Winter Shelter program provides safe shelter, warm meals, and fellowship for our neighbors struggling with homelessness during the coldest months of the year.
Metro Overflow Homeless Shelter - 3230 Brick Church Pike - 7 p.m.- 7 a.m. Hot meals and snacks are available; Mats and cots are provided; Dogs are allowed, with kennels provided.
Wilson County
Hale Moss Building - 945 E. Baddour Parkway, Lebanon - 5 p.m. January 8 - 9 a.m. January 12 - No restrictions on pets; Food and a safe, warm place to sleep are provided.
Rutherford County
First Baptist Church 200 E Main St, Murfreesboro (Men only) - Doors open from 7 - 9 p.m. Food and beds provided.
St. Paul’s Episcopal Church 116 N Academy St, Murfreesboro (Women only) - Doors open from 7 - 9 p.m. Food and beds provided.
Williamson County
Franklin Community Center 233 Natchez Street - dinner at the center, then beds are provided at a local church. Emergency shelters open when the temperature dips below 32 degrees.
Robertson County
No cold weather shelters available - My Father’s House Mission at 101 10th Avenue E., Springfield is expected to be operational in early February.
Montgomery County
Grace Street UMC Gymnasium - 300 Commerce Street, Clarksville - Emergency warming center.
Old Firehouse Day Shelter Room In The Inn - 1498 Golf Club Lane, Clarksville - Hot meal and a warm place to sleep during the winter months.
West 7th Church of Christ - 405 W 7th St, Columbia - 7 p.m. - 7 a.m. Warming station with beds and snacks.
First United Methodist Church - 222 W. 7th St., Columbia - 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. - Warming station providing a hot meal and warm beds.
Sumner County
Portland Police Department - 433 N. Broadway Street - 5 p.m. - 5 a.m. - Emergency Overnight Warming Shelter with limited access to provide warmth.
Stay Warm Shelter - 260 East Winchester Street, Gallatin - 9 p.m. - 6 a.m. - Warming station providing food and warm beds.
Putnam County
Cookeville Rescue Mission - 1331 S Jefferson Ave, Cookeville - Cold weather shelter anytime the temperature dips below 40 degrees.
