MILLERSVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation raided the embattled Millersville Police Department Wednesday morning, following years of controversies about the former and current administration.

A spokeswoman for the TBI confirms special agents are conducting a search warrant execution at the department as part of an ongoing investigation. Agents also executed a search warrant at the home of Millersville’s Assistant Police Chief Shawn Taylor in White House.

It is unclear which of the controversies involving the department launched the TBI investigation.

WSMV4 Investigates has documented years of strife within the department tied to our Thin Blurred Line Investigations.

In May 2023, WSMV4 Investigation found Millersville police, as well as its former, interim and assistant police chiefs, all have ties to Solaren Risk Management, a company, revealed in a series of WSMV4 Investigations, accused by former employees of allowing uncertified people to wear police identification.

Our reporting uncovered other problems, including that for years, questions have risen about people who are not certified police officers receiving police commission cards from the department.

TBI agents raided Millersville police headquarters and home of assistant police chief.

WSMV Investigates found that six people, many of whom showed themselves on social media wearing Millersville police uniforms, were given either police officer or reserve officer police commission cards.

However, an outside investigation by the Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission shows documentation was missing in the files for the six men who confirmed they received the required training to receive those cards.

Following turmoil in city leadership, in which the former city manager, police chief, and fire chief were all terminated, an audit by the city sought to understand where the commission cards came from.

WSMV4 Investigates reached out to the police department, the city attorney, and the mayor for comment and are awaiting their responses.

Recently, the assistant police chief, Shawn Taylor, has faced scrutiny for his conspiracy theories documented on YouTube.
