Normal rainfall expected this month
Could help out with the on-going drought in the Midstate.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The extremely dry, hot summer with very little rainfall has worsened the ongoing drought in Middle Tennessee.
Sections of the southern tier of Middle Tennessee is now under an extreme drought from lack of rain and very dry conditions. The drought has led to burn bans and water conservation emergencies in many cities in the area.
We’ve had very little rain all summer, much lower than average precipitation levels. In fact, in the month of August, Nashville only has six days with measurable rainfall.
However, there’s good news ahead. The latest precipitation outlook from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) shows that Middle Tennessee is on trend to see more of an average month of rainfall, maybe even leaning slightly above normal.
Something else that could help pull us out of the drought will be the cooler, fall-like temperatures. Next week look to feature below-average temperatures, signaling that Autumn is just around the corner.
