NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Milton will make landfall as a major hurricane
In less than 24 hours, Milton strengthened from a Category 1 hurricane to a Category 5 hurricane earlier this week. It is expected to have devastating impacts on the state of Florida.
Many counties along the west coast of Florida were evacuated. Tropical storm or Hurricane warnings are posted up and down Western Florida.
Impacts on the west coast of Florida and Central Florida are expected to arrive in the form of extreme winds, devastating storm surges, freshwater flooding, and tornadoes.
Storm Surge warnings are also in effect. Storm surge of ten to fifteen feet is forecasted for areas like Tampa Bay. Widespread damage at the coast is expected for this reason.
No impacts from the storm are expected here locally, but plenty of impacts are expected in the Sunshine State.
