Parent volunteers considered for Wilson County school buses to stop bad behavior
WCS is debating the idea of allowing vetted parents to help bus drivers by watching students.
LEBANON, Tenn. (WSMV) - Wilson County Schools is considering allowing volunteer parents to ride on school buses in an attempt to stop bad behavior.
WCS is debating the idea of allowing parent volunteers, who go through background checks, to help bus drivers and watch students.

The parent volunteers on the bus would allow the drivers to focus on safely transporting and not monitoring the students onboard. The parents would report potential bad behavior to the drivers.
During a Monday night discussion, the school board shared that middle school students are the age group showcasing the most misbehavior.
“If you are a parent, please talk to your children about respect and sitting down and not using profanity with their bus drivers. It’s common courtesy,” school board member Dr. Beth Meyers said during the meeting.
