Nashville expects two more snow plows to arrive in December

“I will just be completely honest. We will cover more, but we are not set up to clear and salt every street in the city.”

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - How prepared is the City of Nashville for winter weather? The Nashville Department of Transportation gave an update this week on its snow plow numbers. The city is still behind more than a dozen plows.

The city is still waiting for plows to arrive that were supposed to be here in September. The city said supply chain issues are holding them up.

The new timeline is for two of the snow plows to get here by the end of the month. Another 18 are expected to arrive by the end of March. Currently, the city has a total of 40 snow plows on hand. That is just two more than what the city had when the bad snowstorm hit last January.

“If we get into another type of event like we had last year, the scenario will be the same,” NDOT assistant director Phillip Jones said. “I will just be completely honest. We will cover more, but we are not set up to clear and salt every street in the city.”

The city said it still feels good heading into the winter and will be able to handle any ‘typical’ event.
