Police body camera and surveillance video show the moment a shot was fired just outside of a Walmart on Saturday night.

The shot caused the store to evacuate and sent the surrounding area into a lockdown.

Video captures the moments police ran into Walmart after receiving a call for a shooting just after 10 on Saturday night. In minutes they were able to evacuate the store and alert neighbors to shelter in place. Surveillance footage shows the suspect entering the store, and then leaving before an altercation with another man unfolded just outside the entrance.

The outdoor camera caught him talking with another man and then firing his gun. The bullet missed the other man and hit the ground. Additional footage showed the suspect driving away. Lebanon PD believes he was driving a light-colored four-door car on the night of the incident.

“We’re still trying to figure out if they knew each other or not. That’s, like I said, part of the investigation. They took that dispute outside, and that’s where the suspect pulled out a weapon and fire one round,” Lebanon Police Public Information Officer Zach Patton said.

Two hours after the shot was fired, the store reopened.

Emily and Austin had been there picking up some late Christmas presents on Saturday afternoon and just missed the chaos.

“I went up to my mom and said did you see what just happened? We were there today. It was just crazy,” Emily said, “I was just shocked because I didn’t think this would be something that happened in Lebanon cause we’re off the map a little bit.”

Two days later the police say detectives are working hard and looking for leads.

“We just don’t have this type of disruption in our community. So that’s why we want to get down to the bottom of this and find out who’s responsible. And hold them accountable,” Patton said.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call Lebanon PD at 615-444-2323.
