Tennessee shatters program, NCAA records in rout of NC Central
Kim Caldwell becomes first Tennessee coach to open Lady Vol career 8-0
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Saturday, Dec. 14 turned into one of the most prolific showings in women’s college basketball history as Tennessee easily handled North Carolina Central 139-59 inside Food City Center.
The 139 points scored are both a program and SEC record for a single game.
The Lady Vols drained 30 three-pointers on the night. That’s the most in a Division I basketball game all-time.
Samara Spencer was the star of the night, making a Tennessee-record nine three pointers. The Arkansas transfer finished with 33 points.
Kim Caldwell is now the first Tennessee Women’s Basketball Head Coach to begin her career on Rocky Top with an 8-0 mark.
The Lady Vols will return to action on Wednesday, traveling to in-state rival Memphis. Tipoff is set for 8:30 p.m.
