MILLERSVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Following a raid by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the City of Millersville has released a statement to WSMV4.

The city claims it requested the TBI to investigate criminal activity that occurred in city limits prior to January 2024.

“These activities included police misconduct involving the employment of uncertified police officers, the illegal printing of police commission cards, theft of city documents and city property, election fraud, and voter fraud. The City has also sought assistance from other agencies, including the FBI, in addressing these and other matters,” the city said.

The city added that despite its requests, no third-party agency provided the requested support and its inquiries went unanswered.

In its statement, the city says the Millersville Police Department remains committed to enforcing the state and local laws.

“The Department does not need to wait for third-party agencies to intervene before conducting investigations or taking action to prevent illegal activity within the City. We will continue to fulfill our mission to protect and serve the citizens and residents of Millersville without hesitation,” the city said.

Then, the city addressed the raids that took place by the TBI at City Hall, saying agents were seeking various files and electronic information. The city said these search warrants suggest the TBI is investigating official misconduct involving individuals previously reported to the TBI by the MPD.

“In fact, the Millersville Police Department has made multiple attempts to provide the very information that was seized in yesterday’s search,” the city said. “The Millersville Police Department has nothing to hide and welcomes the TBI’s investigation. We remain willing and fully committed to cooperating with the TBI as they continue their inquiry into these serious matters. The City has been, and will continue to be, transparent and cooperative throughout this process. We look forward to working with the TBI to ensure that justice is served and that the integrity of our City is upheld.”

On Wednesday, WSMV4 Investigates learned the TBI was seeking evidence in connection to three alleged crimes in their raids connected to the Millersville Police Department. TBI agents raided the headquarters of Millersville Police as well as the White House home of Shawn Taylor, the assistant chief of the police department, hauling out cases and boxes.

Two search warrants, obtained by WSMV4 Investigates, were served at Millersville police headquarters at 1246 Louisville Hwy in Goodlettsville.

According to the warrants, among the items sought by TBI agents include the computers and hard drivers of police chief Bryan Morris and Taylor, the department’s record management system and body camera footage of an arrest.

Sumner County District Attorney Ray Whitley tells WSMV4 Investigates that the raid focuses on the actions of the current police department, but if other misconduct is uncovered, it too will be investigated.
