GAINSBORO, Tenn. (WSMV) – A single-engine plane made an emergency landing near the Jackson and Smith County line Tuesday morning.

The plane, traveling to Ohio from Murfreesboro, experienced engine problems, so a flight emergency was declared, and the plane managed to land, Jackson County officials said.

Jackson, Smith and Macon County public safety personnel were dispatched to the area to attempt to locate the plane. Dispatchers used GPS coordinates to find the plane’s approximate location off Salt Like Creek Road at about 10 a.m.

Both the pilot and passenger of the plane were not injured.
