NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A man who fled the scene of a deadly crash in December has been indicted on vehicular homicide charges.
A Davidson County Grand Jury returned the vehicular homicide indictment against Terrelle Butler on June 20.
Police said Butler, 21, ran from the crash that killed 23-year-old Marqueze Boyd. He was charged with possession of marijuana, leaving the scene of a crash involving a death and felony weapon possession.
Boyd was inside a speeding vehicle when the driver, presumed to be Butler, lost control and flipped the car several times, police said.
The vehicle came to rest over a fence in the backyard of a home on Cabin Hill Road. Butler ran away but was located by a shed near the crash scene. A backpack, which Butler told police belonged to him, was recovered from underneath the shed containing large amounts of marijuana, a pistol, cash and clothes.
A gun and more marijuana were recovered from the vehicle. The Tennessee Highway Patrol investigated the crash.
Note: A second person was arrested in the incident, but his charges no longer appear on the Davidson County criminal court clerk’s website.
