NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – An intoxicated man was arrested on Broadway after police say he resisted arrest, headbutted a police officer, and threatened to kill the officer’s children.

Shane Martin, 33, is charged with assault on an officer, public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.

A Metro officer was flagged down Saturday night by a security guard at Honky Tonk Central after Martin tried to start a fight with another man, police said.

Police told Martin to leave the area after they saw him shove a hotdog vendor, but he refused, according to police. He was taken into custody after “violently resisting,” police said, and transported to Metro jail.

On the way, Martin allegedly threatened to kill the officer’s children and then headbutted the officer during the booking process.

Martin reportedly continued to make threats toward the officer throughout the booking process. He remains jailed as of Monday morning.
