MNPD expands online reporting to include vandalism, identity theft
Residents can now report vandalism, identity theft and theft from a detached garage or shed.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The Metro Nashville Police Department has expanded its online reporting program to include more categories of crime.
Residents can now report vandalism, identity theft and theft from a detached garage or shed.
Here is how MNPD defines each one of those crimes:
Vandalism
Definition: Damage done to private or business property where a burglary or theft did not occur nor was attempted.
Identify Theft
Definition: Theft of your personal information whereby a suspect uses that information to open a credit card, utilities, or to obtain a social security card.
Theft from a Detached Garage/Shed
Definition: Theft of items from a locked or unlocked detached garage or shed outside a residential location; Does not include motor vehicles, items from motor vehicles, or items stolen from rental storage.

If your incident is not listed in the category selection list, you’re urged to call the Department of Emergency Communications at 615-862-8600 for non-emergencies. For emergencies, call 911.
As of July 1, the MNPD Records Division has approved 1,659 citizen online incident reports and received 5,096 minor crash reporting.
