NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Mt. Juliet Police Department (MJPD) arrested a suspect they say is involved in the illegal reselling of stolen meat in Nashville.

MJPD said its license plate readers alerted officers to a vehicle with a stolen stage that they intercepted at the Publix on S. Mt. Juliet Road.

Officers found a woman actively shoplifting at the store. MJPD said the tag was stolen from Williamson County on Dec. 23.

A 48-year-old woman from Nashville confessed to stealing meat from local stores, including Publix and Kroger on several dates around the Christmas holiday.

“She shoplifted over $110 worth of meat during her most recent visit and was found in possession of methamphetamine,” MJPD said. “She and her boyfriend reportedly sell stolen meat for profit in Nashville.”
