14-year-old driver, other teens arrested in stolen vehicle after multiple pursuits throughout Nashville
The Toyota was taken from a Brush Hill Road home overnight on Tuesday, MNPD said.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Metro Nashville Police Department announced the arrest of a 14-year-old boy and other teenagers in a stolen vehicle on Thursday morning.
MNPD reports that officers attempted to stop a stolen Toyota Sequoia traveling in East Nashville on Tuesday morning after spotting it speeding on Gallatin Pike. Officers stopped pursuing the driver after he ran multiple stop signs and stop lights at excessive speeds.
Just after midnight Thursday, officers found the SUV which again fled from them at a high rate of speed. An MNPD helicopter pilot followed the SUV and helped officers successfully deploy spike strips by relaying information.
The SUV traveled into Madison where the 14-year-old driver stopped on Delaware Avenue. Police said he and his passengers fled on foot. Later, a K9 officer and his partner, Wick, took the 14-year-old into custody. A handgun and cellphone were seen being tossed by the teen prior to his arrest.
“The teen is charged in Juvenile Court with theft of a vehicle, juvenile handgun possession, evading arrest, reckless driving, driving without a license, and possession of burglary tools. In January 2024, at age 13, he was charged in Juvenile Court with vehicle theft and evading arrest. In September 2024, at age 14, he was charged in Juvenile Court with vehicle theft, theft of a firearm, reckless driving, and leaving the scene of a crash involving personal injury after he wrecked a stolen car on Gallatin Pike at Shelton Avenue in East Nashville,” MNPD said.

“Two 15-year-olds and a 16-year-old are charged in Juvenile Court with vehicle theft and evading arrest. The 16-year-old suspect was arrested in June 2024 and charged in Juvenile Court with burglary of a motor vehicle and vehicle theft. In August 2024, he was charged in Juvenile Court with vehicle theft and theft of a firearm,” MNPD said.
