SMYRNA, Tenn. (WSMV) - Breaking: The suspect has been taken into custody after he left his home on his own accord following an hours-long standoff with police.

Update: The Smyrna Police Department is on the scene of a standoff in the area of Avery Park Drive on Thursday.

Officers have been at a home in the area since about 10 a.m. regarding a suspect refusing to come out of a home.

Information on how the standoff began has not been released at this time. SPD believes this is an isolated incident.

WSMV4 has a crew on the way to the scene to learn more.

Earlier: The Smyrna Police Department is warning the public of police activity causing traffic issues on Thursday afternoon.

SPD reports that police activity on Old Nashville Highway is causing southbound traffic to be diverted to Stewart Valley Drive at Baker Road.

“At Baker Road, make a left to get back on Old Nashville Highway,” SPD said.
