2025 FIFA Club World Cup to look similar to Nashville SC gamedays at Geodis Park
Geodis Park was one of 12 selected locations to host games for the tournament which lasts 29 days.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Geodis Park will soon see some of the best names in club soccer playing on its pitch.
While gameday brings a ton of excitement, for people in Wedgewood Houston, they know it for all the wrong reasons.
“A lot of traffic and a lot of foot traffic,” Donnel Wordlaw said. “I do not go out, because I cannot get back home.”
They say the traffic sometimes is so bad, Metro Police end up blocking off their streets.
“You can’t leave your neighborhood,” Erica Lenier said.
“Gameday is a big ‘change whatever you were planning on doing’ day,” Susan Heffernon said.
All of the people we spoke with have lived in the area for over 15 years, and they say between parking problems and traffic, gamedays are a big headache.
“If you have something to do on gameday, you better do it early,” Heffernon said. “It might be good for them, it’s not good for us.”
Last week, city leaders announced that Geodis Park will host games for the 2025 Inaugural FIFA Club World Cup. While it’s unclear how many games will be at Geodis during the month-long tournament, the city says they have no plans to change their approach to gamedays.

“If you are publicizing international, there is no way it’s going to be the same gameday,” Lenier said.
WeGo representatives say shuttle services will likely remain the same on their end.

With that, we feel confident that this event can be handled in the same manner and satisfaction to the attendees.”
