NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A Nashville man is facing eight charges of unlawful photography for recording his sexual encounters with women, ages 26 to 33 years old, using a hidden camera in his alarm clock.

31-year-old Matthew Vollmer was arrested Wednesday and posted a $40,000 bond.

According to his arrest affidavit, a woman who was dating Vollmer accessed his computer and found a file folder featuring videos of them having sex.

One reported victim is suing for 1.8 million dollars.

The woman told police that Vollmer gave her his password for the laptop while she was house sitting for him.

The woman told police she was unaware that she was being recorded and found the hidden camera in his alarm clock.

Laura Cantwell, one of Vollmer’s reported victims along with two other women told their stories to WSMV4 Investigates Thursday afternoon.

“This man needs to be held accountable, both in the court of justice and in the court of public opinion. And it’s important to me that he knows I’m the one doing it to him,” Cantwell said.

Cantwell said she dated Vollmer for three weeks, finding him charming and outgoing. She said he told her he worked in cyber security.

A third year law student at Vanderbilt, Cantwell said she got a call from the school, telling her that another woman had contacted the university, looking for a student named Laura who attended an event on campus with a man named Matthew Vollmer.

The woman explained that there were explicit videos of women on Vollmer’s laptop.

“Getting a phone call from my law school, informing me that a man that I had dated for three weeks had multiple sexually explicit videos of me was one of the most horrifying experiences of my life,” Cantwell said.

“It’s important that the women who are affected by that kind of violation receive justice,” said Sarah Martin, Cantwell’s attorney.

Cantwell said there are thousands of recorded videos of women who have not all been identified. She is suing him in civil court for 1.8 million dollars. The lawsuit states that if she is awarded a financial judgement, she will split it evenly with Vollmer’s alleged victims.

“If you do this to somebody, you will be prosecuted criminally and you will be ruined financially,” said Daniel Horwitz, Cantwell’s attorney.

WSMV4 Investigates reached out to Vollmer by phone and by text but did not receive a response by our deadline.

“If he is seeing this tonight, what would you say to him?” asked WSMV4 Investigates.

“I would say nothing to him,” Cantwell said.

“Why is that?” asked WSMV4 Investigates.

“He isn’t worth any of our time to communicate with. My objective in speaking with you - in speaking out on this - is to find the other victims,” Cantwell said.
