Teenagers arrested for allegedly breaking into vehicles in The Gulch
Two young men attempted to run away from officers after breaking into four vehicles in a parking lot.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Two teenagers are facing multiple charges after they were caught breaking into vehicles overnight on Sunday in The Gulch.
According to arrest affidavits from the Metro Nashville Police Department, officers were dispatched to 645 Division Street after witnesses reported hearing glass breaking, and two men were seen burglarizing vehicles in the parking lot.
Upon arriving at the scene, the officers observed two males walking away in dark clothing, the affidavit states. They followed them across the 8th Avenue intersection until both of them fled in different directions, according to the officers’ report.
One took off down an alleyway but encountered a dead end before he was taken into custody. The other was discovered behind an abandoned building, lying down in a gravel lot, according to the affidavit.
The suspects were identified as 18-year-old Markese Todd and 19-year-old Marquise Johnson.
Officers found four damaged vehicles in a nearby parking lot and tools used by the two suspects during the break-ins.
Johnson is charged with four counts of vehicle burglary and additional charges of possessing burglary tools, evading arrest, and drug possession. Todd also has four counts of vehicle burglary, along with evading arrest.
