NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Many people in the Midstate were shocked by the amount of snow that fell on Monday night.

From 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., from Nashville to Kentucky, many cities across the Midstate experienced the winter weather including flurries and slick roads in some areas.

With the amount of snow that fell, it pushed several people to the grocery store to stock up and bundle up.

When Shanavika Davis-Jackson heard the meteorologists warn of snow on Sunday night, she said she stocked up on some grocery essentials.

Many people in the Midstate were shocked by the amount of snow that fell on Monday night.

“Milk, eggs, bread,” Davis-Jackson said. “It doesn’t snow here often so when it snows you have to go home.”

On the other hand, Priscilla Stottlemyer and Rebeca Callegario stocked up on things such as jackets and scarves.

“We definitely already have all our food and drinks full at home,” Stottlemyer said. “Our heater is on and everything, so we’re just trying to stay warm.”

Callegario was in town visiting for Thanksgiving.

“I have a lot of layers,” Callegario said. “I’m a Florida girl, so I’m not used to the cold so that’s why I’m wearing everything.”

Callegario and Stottlemyer said they knew snow was in the forecast but said they never expected so much to come down.

As the snow fell on Monday night, road conditions in some areas worsened.

Davis-Jackson said she has a method to staying safe in these conditions and when things get worse.

“I normally drive in snow,” Davis-Jackson said. “So it doesn’t bother me. I just take my time. I map out where I’m going before, like the roads I’m going to travel. I map them out before I leave the house, so I know what hill to go up and what road not to go down.”
