‘He was a monster’: Mother of victim speaks out after man accused of raping children at unlicensed Antioch daycare
The mother of the victim said the daycare worker spent years assaulting children.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A mother is speaking out after a man was accused of raping children at an unlicensed at-home daycare in Antioch.
The mother who spoke with WSMV did not want to show her face on camera. She said she never knew abuse was happening.
“I truly, truly thought they were good people,” one mother said.
The mother said her daughter attended the daycare for years.
On Thursday, officers arrested one of the operators of the daycare, Imran “Ron” Malik.
Police said the 55-year-old abused children while caring for them at an unlicensed daycare he ran in his home. The nearly year-long investigation found that he raped and assaulted two girls under the age of 10 at his Ashgrove Drive home in Antioch.
“He was a monster,” one of the mothers said. “Ron had abused my daughter for most of her life. She was convulsing and shaking and turning white telling me that I would die if she told me what was wrong.”
After years of mental health issues, the mother said her daughter told her Malik would sexually abuse her at night. However, the mother said it didn’t stop with physical abuse.
“My daughter was told that he was the only one that would love her, that no one in her family cared about her, that her father wasn’t in the picture because she wasn’t worthy of it,” the mother said. “Malik told her at the end of the day, she truly did like what was happening to her. He was sure of it.”
The victim’s mother reported the case to DHS.
Malik is charged with 14 counts of rape of a child, eight counts of sexual battery, two counts of aggravated rape of a child and two counts of sexual abuse.
According to Department of Human Services (DHS) documents obtained by WSMV, Malik and his wife, Molly Sinclair, had been warned about running an illegal daycare as far back as 2015.
Some families said they also wanted to see Sinclair face charges in the rape investigations.
In November, DHS documents said Sinclair agreed to a guilty plea that prevents her from caring for any children in her home or any home where she is on the lease.
The mother is urging other possible victims to come forward.
Malik was booked on a $260,000 bond. No court dates have been set as of Friday afternoon.
