NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Annual American Rosie the Riveter Association Convention is set to bring together women who helped shape our nation’s history.

This year’s event will be held at The Inn at Opryland from June 13 to June 16.

Among the distinguished guests will be Thelma from Clarksville, who worked as a riveter during World War II as a teenager. These women, famously known as Rosies, took on essential roles in factories and shipyards, filling jobs traditionally held by men who were off fighting in the war.

Laurie Ranta, Tennessee State Director for the American Rosie the Riveter Association, shared the importance of this gathering.

“The men in the war were so well documented. There’s so much on the men,” she said. “We are still trying to find these WWII workers who helped shape our nation and win the war. We are trying to find more Rosies and get their stories told so we can preserve them.”

The convention not only honors these women’s contributions but also ensures their stories are recorded for future generations. Some Rosies traveling from out of town with their families need financial assistance to attend.
