NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A local Army veteran is getting a much-needed new roof, all thanks to an initiative helping service members across the country.

Caesar Meijia and his family faced significant challenges over the past year after insurance refused to cover the damage sustained in a severe storm and worsened by a deadly tornado more than six months ago.

Meijia said he has needed a new roof since strong storms tore through Clarksville in March of 2023. The winds from December’s deadly tornado made the damage even worse, causing a lot of problems for Meijia and his wife.

“Oh, this is a huge blessing. Me and my wife are literally so happy that this has been done,” said Caesar Meijia.

“When the leaks were coming down, we were having bubbles going down inside the house on this side with a window. So we were having very bad damage there. Whenever there was a big rainstorm that came by, all the fire alarms would go off because the water would hit the electricity,” Meijia explained.

The new roof is being installed by Southern Roofing and Renovations as part of the Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project. This nationwide effort aims to honor veterans by replacing their roofs for free.
