NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Henry Fletcher, 39, appeared in court on Thursday morning in Nashville. He is accused of shooting at a car and striking a teenage driver, which caused him to crash into a South Nashville IHOP last January.
The victim, Alex Delgado, was shot in the head and subsequently crashed his car into the restaurant at the corner of Nolensville Pike and Harding Place.

On Thursday, the judge denied Fletcher’s claim of self-defense, and a grand jury will now hear the criminal homicide case.
The Delgado family continues to seek justice for Alex, who was only 16 years old when he was killed. Over the past year and a half, the family has endured holidays, birthdays, and other milestones without him.
“There hasn’t been any celebrations as it was before,” said Selena Nunez, a family friend translating for Alex’s mother, Euvdulia Delgado Alvarado.
Euvdulia Delgado Alvarado expressed her profound sadness, with Selena translating, “She says it feels bad, it feels sad.”
Alex was supposed to graduate from Glencliff High School in May of 2024. In his honor, his mother walked the stage during what would have been his graduation ceremony.
Despite their immense loss, Alex’s loved ones are determined to stay strong.
“No matter that he’s not here with us physically, he will always be with us spiritually and in our hearts. We will always keep his name alive and memory alive,” said Selena Nunez.
Several of Alex’s family members attended court Thursday morning, wearing matching shirts to honor him. They remain committed to fighting for justice. Henry Fletcher is facing a criminal homicide charge in connection with Alex’s death, and the case will proceed to a grand jury.
