Nashville nonprofit takes to the skies to help Hurricane Helene victims
Props For A Purpose is coordinating efforts with pilots and volunteers to load private planes with essential donations.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - At John C. Tune Airport, a team of pilots are on a mission to help those in North Carolina devastated by Hurricane Helene. In partnership with the nonprofit “Props For A Purpose,” they are flying in thousands of pounds of supplies to those in need.
Founded by Belmont University freshman Jacob Bealle, the nonprofit is coordinating efforts with pilots and volunteers to load private planes with essential donations. On Wednesday alone, they plan to send out 10 to 15 flights, hauling over 5,000 pounds of supplies to those in need.
Tyler Mosley, Chief of Disaster Relief for Props For A Purpose, shares how he and Bealle started the organization after a tornado struck Mayfield, Kentucky, nearly three years ago. He’s thankful they can continue making a difference.
“It feels really good. I started flying when I was 11, and then as I went through my training, started to realize you can use this to do some good. Back in 2021 when the Western Kentucky tornadoes happened, Jake and I, we were in high school, and we put together just a small effort to send supplies out there, and that’s kind of what led to Props For A Purpose," said Mosley.
As Hurricane Milton approaches, Props For A Purpose is preparing to help those in its path.
