NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - We’re two weeks away from Election Day and people are already showing up to the polls in large numbers.

As of Monday evening, more than 76,000 people showed up to early vote in Davidson County.

One Davidson County voter, William Phillips said, “The lines weren’t too long it was a good day to be out here.”

Short wait times and almost nonexistent lines are how some voters described their experience at the Lentz Public Health Center polling location on Tuesday afternoon.

Another voter, William Shell said, “I was in and out within like five minutes.”

Michelle Sullivan said, “We were worried that it was going to be packed when we first came in because the parking lot seemed packed but it was seamless.”

Philips remembers the lines while voting in the last presidential election, “Pretty long, last time around but again we’re early voting so we got ahead of the curb.”

That’s a part of the reason he decided to vote early, “I just think it’s important that if you have your opinion, you should go ahead and make the decision go vote early, avoid those lines. And just cast your ballot,” said Phillips.

While things went smoothly for voters at the Health Center on Tuesday afternoon other voters reported power outages at the Bordeaux library.

The Davidson County Board of Elections said the incident had little to no impact on voting and that people were able to vote it just took longer.

First-time voter, Christian Kindred said he didn’t plan to vote today but knew he wanted to vote early.

″I just decided to do it today like welp I guess it’s time to cast my vote so just went and did it.“

He said he will probably continue to do that, “I think I would just go ahead and vote early going forward.”

Early voting ends next Thursday, Oct. 31.
