App offers private pool experience at a fraction of the cost
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - If you’re looking to beat the summer heat, there’s a new app that could get you private pool access without the private pool costs.
Swimply is a rental service for privately owned pools. People can search for pools by area, pricing, even features. People can then rent the pool by the hour.
For Adam Hall, having a pool is all about community.
“I enjoy having our friends over and just bringing people together,” Hall said.
Hall lists his Old Hickory pool on the site. He says it’s been a great way to earn some extra money. He says so far, he’s earned enough to cover maintenance costs for the pool.
“I figured when we’re not using it, it’s a good way to subsidize the cost of chemicals and upkeep,” Hall added.
Because of Swimply, Hall said he has had around two dozen rentals in the first month alone.
“I didn’t know what to expect honestly. It would say it exceeded our expectations. We’ve found our niche of people. Smaller families that have been taking advantage of it,” says Hall.
Hall says Swimply has its own liability and property damage insurance so that people are covered in the event something should happen. He says so far, they haven’t had any bad experiences.
“If there are families who want a few hours who don’t want to be in a crowded public pool, or an even grosser lake, we want to help them out with that,” Hall said.
