Two injured in Harding Place shooting

The university said in a public safety alert that there is no threat to the campus but that people should avoid the area while police investigate.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Metro Nashville police officers are investigating a shooting that happened at an apartment complex on Harding Place Saturday afternoon.

Police on the scene told WSMV4 there were two people hurt in the shooting. They are expected to survive their injuries, according to police.

Shortly after the shooting was reported at Harding Place, shooting victims were reported on the Vanderbilt Campus at the Engineering and Science Building, according to an alert sent out by the Vanderbilt University Police Department. The same alert clarified the shooting did not occur on campus but that the victims were driving to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment. None of the victims were affiliated with Vanderbilt, according to the alert.

The alert said the victims were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Metro Police confirmed that the victims are connected to the shooting on Harding Place.

Metro Police are still on-scene at the apartments on Harding Place investigating.
