NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Update: Metro Nashville police are investigating a shooting that left two men injured at an Edgehill apartment complex early Thursday morning.

Police are investigating a self-defense claim in the shooting that occurred in the 1100 block of 11th Avenue South.

Two men were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The Davidson County District Attorney’s Office will be consulted on any possible charges.

Several cars in the area were shot and dozens of bullet casings were found at the scene.

Earlier: Two people found with gunshot wounds at an Edgehill apartment complex were taken to the hospital in critical and serious conditions.

The shooting happened early Thursday morning in the courtyard of an apartment complex at 1466 11th Avenue South, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.

Officers said several cars in the area were shot and dozens of bullet casings were found at the scene.

Police said they are trying to figure out if the victims were shooting at each other or if someone else was shooting at them.
