SAVANNAH, Tenn. (WSMV) - Update: A four-story hotel that was under construction in Hardin County, Tennessee was destroyed in a fire on Wednesday, according to the county’s fire department.

HCFD reports that crews responded to assist the Savannah Fire Department with the blaze on Riverside Drive.

The hotel was under construction and not occupied at the time of the fire. No injuries are being reported.

The building is a total loss, according to HCFD, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation will be assisting in the investigation.

Earlier: A fire in Hardin County has crews warning people that the area is not safe.

The Hardin County Fire Department said crews are at the Sleep Inn Hotel construction site fighting a blaze.

“Firefighters are working diligently to get this fire under control,” a social media post by the department said.

Authorities are asking people to avoid the area so that crews can continue to fight the fire.
