NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Two people went to Vanderbilt University Medical Center after a home caught fire in Antioch Thursday morning.

One was a man who was inside when the fire started, the other was a firefighter who responded to the scene on Fanning Drive. Both suffered minor burns to their ears.

The son of the man living at the home said the fire started when his dad and brother were sleeping inside.

He said he’s not sure what caused the fire but believes it may have started in the garage and then spread.

Personnel with the Nashville Fire Department said several engines became stuck waiting for a nearby train to pass through, delaying their response by several minutes.

The house is considered a total loss.
