NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Nine dogs rescued from a breeding operation in Obion County were surrendered to Animal Rescue Corps, the organization reports.

The rescued dogs include German Shepherds, German Shepherds mixes, and Cocker Spaniels. Many had ear infections, eye infections, severe matting, and parasites, ARC said.

“These dogs have been used as commodities their whole lives,” said ARC Executive Director Tim Woodward. “I am glad the dogs in Operation Bright Star will be able to experience being part of a loving family, the way it always should have been.”

The animals are now receiving care at ARC’s rescue center in Gallatin where they’ll be examined by veterinarians, receive vaccinations and any medical treatment they may need.

From there, the dogs will be adopted through partner shelters and organizations.

The Obion County facility, described as a ‘puppy mill’ by ARC, has been shut down.

ARC said it needs donations and volunteers to help the mission.
