‘Christmas at Belmont’ debuts on global stage
The 90-minute live show will be streamed on Prime Video and Amazon Music on Dec. 11.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - "Christmas at Belmont," the 90-minute live show featuring Belmont student musicians, vocalists, and even stage crew, has become a holiday tradition for 15 years in Music City.
This year it’s going global by being streamed on Amazon Prime.
600 student singers and instrumentalists, grouped in various ensembles and diverse musical styles, are why audiences marvel at the annual show, performed live at Belmont’s Fisher Center.
But Artistic Director Dr. Jefferey Ames insists it’s all about the process.
“There’s a period of woodshedding, a period of polishing, a period of getting it right and getting so juiced about that,“ said Ames. “So, that’s what really exciting to see and kind of helps with the buzz for this production.”
Belmont junior Grant Brown grew up going to the symphony. Now, he plays the cello for Belmont’s symphony, which is preparing eight pieces for the production.
“This is a huge opportunity for me, to see what goes into bigger shows like this and how much work goes into it production-wise,” said Brown. “It’s a huge deal for me.”
Ames hopes “Christmas at Belmont” leaves audiences with just that – hope.
“It rekindles a sense of love and belonging that kind of shows what Christmas is,” Ames added. “And this year, it really is a sense of hope. That’s part of our theme of this year’s show, and the other is Glory to God in the Highest.”
“Because that’s who we do it for and not ourselves.”
Celebrity guests Ashley Cooke, Dwan Hill and Cody Frye, all Belmont graduates, will also perform.
“Christmas at Belmont Live from Nashville” will be streamed live on Prime Video and Amazon Music on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 7pm (CT).
