NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Vanderbilt University football head coach Clark Lea announced the addition of 13 student-athletes to his program on Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period.

The group is comprised of eight defensive and five offensive players, including four defensive backs and three wide receivers. Four of the signees intend to enroll at Vanderbilt in January — George Okorie, Cayden Daniels, Vanzale Hinton and Carson Lawrence.

Austin Howard and Lawrence represent four-star signees, per On3, while the remainder of the class each has a three-star rating according to all four major services (247Sports, On3, Rivals and ESPN).

The signing class includes student-athletes from nine states and one international signee in Okorie. Three of the signees are from the state of Tennessee, giving Vandy 13 signees from the state over the last three years. Eight of the signees come from within the SEC footprint.

Three players in the class won a combined five state championships during their prep careers, with a handful still alive in this year’s playoffs. Quarterback Jack Elliott is a three-time Illinois state champion at Mount Carmel, while Carson Lawrence has a Tennessee state title at the McCallie School and Davin Chandler won a championship at Maryland with Stephen Decatur High School.
