‘Shocked, confused, devastated’: Nashville woman’s family stands together after suspected domestic-related murder
“We will not let the horrific acts of one man destroy the joy and love Jackie Glynn brought to each of us.”
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The family of a missing Nashville woman who was found dead last week broke their silence days after her murder, releasing a statement to the public on their resilience to stand together despite the heartbreaking circumstances.
Jackie Glynn, 76, was found dead in Dekalb County on Jan. 5. The Dekalb County Sherriff’s Office said her body was discovered in a plastic cargo box beneath piles of roof shingles, buried deep in a grave.
Deputies said Glynn’s husband, Joseph Glynn, 70, admitted to police that he hit her on the head in their Nashville home with a hammer on New Year’s Day, killing her. They say Glynn also admitted to driving her body to their property in Smithville to bury her.

Days after the gruesome discovery, Jackie’s family released a group statement expressing their shock and horror.
“As a family, since last week, we find ourselves navigating a course where we struggle to see a clear direction,” the family said. “However, relying on our faith in God, we walk united in the spirit of light, positivity, and kindness that Jackie taught us all.”
Jackie was a friend, mother to two adult children, mother-in-law, and an “adored Yaya” to three grandchildren. The family said as they traverse through the difficult situation, they have seen support from extended family, friends, church, work communities and strangers.
“We are forever grateful for their support through their words, thoughts, prayers, hugs, and reflections on Jackie’s impact on their lives,” the family said. “Their support gives us hope that despite the many tears, light is alive and well in the human spirit.”
The family sent gratitude to the Metro Nashville Police Department and the DCSO for their work in recovering Jackie’s body and the “thoroughness and grace” displayed throughout the investigation.
“We believe that the power of love unites and spreads, even during tragedy, when you stand together,” the family said. “We will not let the horrific acts of one man destroy the joy and love Jackie Glynn brought to each of us.”
