The shooting happened between two 14-year-olds, police said.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Metro Police charged a teen with criminal homicide after Friday night’s fatal shooting of another teen in East Nashville.
Police arrested 14-year-old Jeremiah Smith for the fatal shooting of 14-year-old Brendan Grady. Smith allegedly shot Grady during an attempted robbery outside the Parkway Terrace Apartments at 156 N. 6th Street, police said.
Officials said the investigation shows that Smith, who knows Grady, was armed and was attempting to rob Grady of a pistol when he allegedly shot him.
Police said Smith fled the scene in a stolen Toyota Tundra pickup truck that was taken with the keys on Thursday from Rebecca Street in East Nashville.
The truck was recovered from a parking garage on South 5th Street during the night.
Police arrested Smith at his grandmother’s home.
Smith is being held at juvenile detention on charges of criminal homicide, vehicle theft, robbery, and evidence tampering, police said.
